Western Technology &

Soviet Economic Development

iStock-903280608.jpg

“The technical assistance agreement and the sale (or gift, under Lend-Lease or reparations arrangements) of Western equipment, in short, replaced the concession as the major transfer mechanism for the period1930 to 1945. (Foreign concessions and technical transfers were the most significant factors in Soviet economic development between 1917 and 1930).

Complete corroboration for the general argument of this study comes from an excellent source: Josef Stalin himself. In 1944, W. Averell Harriman, reporting to the State Department on a discussion between Eric Johnston and Stalin, made the following significant statement:

Stalin paid tribute to the assistance rendered by the United States to Soviet industry before and during the war. He said that about two-thirds of all the large industrial enterprises in the Soviet Union had been built with United States help or technical assistance.10

10. U.S. State Dept. Decimal File, 033.1161 Johnston, Eric/6-3044: Telegram June 30, 1944.

Only the Danish telegraph concessions, the Japanese fishing, coal and oil concessions, and the Standard Oil lease remained after 1935.”

dark smooth brown leather.jpg
An example of why most concessions were cancelled can be seen here from Estonian investors:

“As long as Estonian funds were being invested in these enterprises all was well. When, however, the moment arrived when the Estonian merchants began to secure returns from these investments, such difficulties were placed in their way by the Soviet authorities that the projects had to be abandoned. In this way great losses were incurred by the Estonians who had attempted to carry on business in the Soviet Union.12

Thus, as each concession became profitable, it also became a target for expropriation.”

What is presented here is the technological aspect of the economic advancements of the Soviet Union. It is the major factor, but it is not the only factor.

“Other elements play their role: one of particular significance in the Soviet Union has been forced labor … In short, the Soviets have been extraordinarily successful in presenting a façade of indigenous ‘socialist’ technological progress which they compare to the continuing ‘capitalist’ crises.” Which as far as the Marxists are concerned, capitalism has been in decline since before they conducted their coup d’e-tat in Russia in 1917.

Now that we can see an overall picture of the fact that the wealthiest capitalists in the west built the manufacturing infrastructure in the U.S.S.R., under the cover of propaganda of the deadliest ideology mankind has ever known. Let us take a look at the specific companies and what they did before we get to the entire list based on State Department decimal files.

Before we get to the entire list, let’s start with one of the biggest companies in the world and one we have all trusted as an example, General Electric.

You’ll see on the left of the diagram below the names of what western companies were involved in the “Soviet companies.” Even though western companies built, ran the operations, and trained Soviet workers and engineers, the Soviets would combine all the western expertise under a Soviet name and pass it off as Soviet technology and superiority.

“Unfortunately the General Electric Company instructed its engineers not to discuss conditions in the U.S.S.R. with State Dept. officers, and corporate files covering work in the U.S.S.R. have been destroyed.44  Thus, the only record is from those engineers who, when interviewed by State Dept. officials, ‘forgot’ their instructions and gave details of their work. For these reasons our knowledge is fragmented.

We do know that one group of seven engineers worked at VEO offices in Moscow designing steel-mill equipment for a location in the Urals and Siberia. The equipment itself was supplied by General Electric and Siemens Schukert.”45

AMERICAN, BRITISH, AND CANADIAN LEND-LEASE SHIPMENTS

Following an agreement on October 15, 1945, the State Dept. figured it approved the shipment of $178,000,000 worth of equipment, other estimates are higher, and this is 1945 values. Total capacity supplied was 1,457,274 kilowatts, divided as follows:

Stationary steam plants                         631,939 kilowatts

Stationary diesel plants                         327,498 kilowatts

Stationary power trains, steam           267,500 kilowatts

Trailer-mounted diesel plants             72,945 kilowatts

Railroad power cars, diesel                   103,000 kilowatts

Hydroelectric stations                            54,392 kilowatts

“In 1944 the General Electric Company received a contract to build more hydroelectric turbogenerators to fit the same foundations at the Dniepr Dam as the original General Electric installation in 1931; however, as designed, the generators produced 15% more energy and the systems were reengineered by General Electric to incorporate the 15 years of technical advances since 1930.59  There is no question that this assistance was vitally needed; the Moscow Embassy reported in 1943 that the ‘extreme importance attached to delivery of equipment for Soviet hydro-electric stations was the subject of special request by Mikoyan.’”60  Western Technology & Soviet Economic Development pp. 167-168.

59. Electrical World, October 21, 1944, p. 6. The original General Electric turbines had been removed in 1941 and relocated east of the Urals.

60. U.S. State Dept. , 861.24/1564, Telegram 809, Moscow to Washington D.C. July 6, 1943.

Again, we can see below how the Soviets would take the knowledge of western engineering and put it under a Soviet name to appear to have greater technological savvy than they actually had.

“In most fields of technical research, development and production which I am familiar with in the Soviet Union, the overwhelming majority of resources are invested in military applications. As a matter of fact, the Soviet industrial capacity is so overburdened with military production that the Soviets could not make a civilian or commercial application of certain high technology products even if they wanted to.” Former Soviet engineer, Joseph Arkov before the U.S. Senate, May 4, 1982.

Those are the companies that built Communist Russia and spread the deadliest ideology humanity has ever known and they were paid subsidies to do it with our tax dollars. The MIC is a global entity.

Austin Co. is mentioned in the list as “designing Gorki city.” Here’s a quick look at Gorki City and what the Austin Co., the Ford Motor Co., and a few others, did there:

“If we do not develop our automobile industry, we are threatened with the heaviest losses, if not defeats, in a future war.” Pravda, July 20, 1927.

“Many major American companies have been prominent in building up the Soviet truck industry. The Ford Motor Company, A.J. Brandt Company, Austin Company, General Electric, Swindell-Dressier, and others supplied the technical assistance, design work, and equipment of the original giant plants.” Sutton, The Best Enemy Money Can Buy. The Soviet Military Truck Industry, Pp15.

The Ford Gorki “Automobile” Plant

“In May 1929 the Soviets signed an agreement with the Ford Motor Company of Detroit. The Soviets agreed to purchase $13 million worth of automobiles and parts and Ford agreed to give technical assistance until 1938 to construct an integrated automobile-manufacturing plant at Nizhni-Novgorod. Construction was completed in 1933 by the Austin Company for production of the Ford Model -A passenger car and light truck. Today this plant is known as Gorki … Gorki produces the GAZ range of automobiles, trucks, and military vehicles. All Soviet vehicles with the model prefix GAZ (Gorki Avtomobilnyi Zavod) are from Gorki, and models with prefixes UAX, OdAZ, and PAZ are made from Gorki components.

In 1930 Gorki produced the Ford Model-A (known as GAZ-A) and the Ford light truck (called GAZ-AA). Both these Ford models were immediately adopted for military use…

Furthermore, U.S. equipment has been shipped in substantial quantities to Gorki and subsidiary plants since the 1930’s—indeed some shipments were made from the United States in 1968 during the Vietnam War.”

The Ford Model-A truck chassis was used to make the BA and followed by the BA-10 with mount for either a 37 millimeter gun or a 12.7-millimeter heavy machine gun.

The Soviets had the GAZ-60 and 63 hybrid half-track personnel carrier

GAZ-46

GAZ-69

In the 1960’s and 70’s they had an improved version of the BAZ-47 armored cargo carrier using GAZ-53 chassis.

“In brief, the Ford-Gorki plant has a continuous history of production of armored cars and wheeled vehicles for Soviet army use: those used against the United States in Korea and Vietnam.” Sutton. The Best Enemy Money Can Buy. Pp. 13,16-17.

It goes on …

Dr Bryton Barron, a historian https://archiveswest.orbiscascade.org/ark:80444/xv96124, and his associate, Dr. Dozer were removed from their positions at the Historical Office at the State Department by John Foster Dulles. Dr. Barron and Dr. Dozer both “protested the official policy of distorting information and suppressing historical documents…”

Here are four examples of military technology the State Department sent to the U.S.S.R. from Dr. Barron’s book, Inside the State Department.

  1. Boring mills for manufacture of tanks, artillery, aircraft, and the atomic reactors used in submarines.

  2. Vertical boring mills for manufacture of jet engines.

  3. Dynamic balance machines used to balance shafts on engines for jet airplanes and guided missiles.

  4. External cylindrical grinding machines which a Defense Dept. expert testified were essential in making engine parts, guided missiles, and radar.

The general State Dept. line was the Soviets have a “self-developed” technology and with the “controls” we have in place, trade with the Soviets is always for peaceful means and has nothing to do with their military armaments.

I could go on and on with the armaments we sent them but at this point I believe the gravity of the MIC situation, which is global, is evident. The rest are references, and links for Sutton’s online book I posted above, for those of you interested in reading further.

“Sputnik I and Sputnik II had a first stage of two R-14A units, a second stage of two R-14A units, and a third stage of a single R-10 (German V-2 produced in the Soviet Union).

The AK-47 might be the most widely distributed weapon of war of all time and used against our men and women across the globe. The AK-47 was built by Mikhail T. Kalashnikov. Kalashnikov got his design ideas from the Maxim model 1910 heavy machine gun which was already in Imperial Russia. The Maxim machine gun was invented by Hiram Maxim of Sangerville, Maine, USA. The origins of the AK-47 design are from Hiram Maxim, an American, not a Soviet.

“One of the reasons that Americans are often confused about the Soviet Union is that Soviet manipulation of diplomats, who senselessly limit their contacts, and Sovietologists, who depend on the Soviet authorities for their visas, has given rise to a conventional wisdom about the ‘reasonableness’ of the Soviet Union that bears no relationship to reality.” David Satter, Wall Street Journal, October 22, 1985.

CONSLUSION

The examples shown are evidence that the Soviet Socialist was not as technologically savvy as we were led to believe and they were “installed” in Russia by wealthy thieves. Understand, this is not to say the Russian people are not capable of that level of technological savvy. What has been portrayed to the world is that the Soviet/Socialist is as good, or better than, its Capitalist counterparts and that was simply not true and truth is important. Although, we had to be sold that narrative so the public, here in the USA, would support the buildup of military armaments. While simultaneously the same defense contractors and engineers were building up the armaments of the opposing side and convincing the people of the U.S.S.R. of the same.

In other words, if it were not for Western/Capitalist support of the Marxist/Socialist experiment, Socialism would have been relegated to the trash heap of history as a clear example of how ‘not’ to be a long time ago, which is exactly where it belongs today. Without our tax dollars, and the machine’s propaganda, it is worthless and stands opposed to an educated population, hence the reason to take over the education system as the first step. The J.P. Morgan interests also bought controlling interests in the world’s 25 largest newspapers in March of 1915 to “control” the messaging or propaganda. The MIC and its Socialist mechanisms only serve the proprietors of the MIC and ‘we the people’ are exploited as tools for their greed. The perpetual war works because they must keep replenishing the armaments they have on their shelves. That’s it, boiled down to its basic element, Socialism is a method of executing a hidden business plan that we taxpayers pay for through such “politically accepted” phrases like Foreign Aid and Lend Lease, to name a couple.

“The powers of financial capitalism had a far-reaching (plan), nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent private meetings and conferences… Each central bank, in the hands of men like Montagu Norman of the Bank of England, Benjamin Strong of the New York Federal Reserve Bank, Charles Rist of the Bank of France, Hjalmar Schacht of the Reichsbank, sought to dominate its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence cooperative politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world.” Tragedy & Hope by Caroll Quigley. Copyright 1966. Chapter VII Finance, Commercial Policy, and Business Activity, 1897-1947. P 324.

“This myth, like all fables, does in fact have a modicum of truth. There does exist, and has existed for a generation, an international Anglophile network which operates, to some extent, in the way the radical Right believes the Communists act. In fact, this network, which we may identify as the Round Table Groups, has no aversion to cooperating with the Communists, or any other groups, and frequently does so. I know of the operations of this network because I have studied it for twenty years and was permitted for two years, in the early 1960’s, to examine its papers and secret records. I have no aversion to it or to most of its aims and have, for much of my life, been close to it and to many of its instruments. I have objected, both in the past and recently, to a few of its policies (notably to its belief that England was an Atlantic rather than a European Power and must be allied, or even federated, with the United States and must remain isolated from Europe), but in general my chief difference of opinion is that it wishes to remain unknown, and I believe its role in history is significant enough to be known.” Tragedy & Hope by Caroll Quigley. Copyright 1966. Chapter XVII. P 950.

Caroll Quigley was a Professor at Georgetown University and an insider in MIC circles. His most famous student was Bill Clinton. Professor Quigley almost lost his career for having Tragedy & Hope published. I will be bringing up Professor Quigley frequently on this site as time goes on.

My hope is that this “tip of the iceberg” outline makes it easier to see the structure of the Military Industrial Complex business plan and its genius in manipulating us all with the “benefits” of Socialism as its most potent, albeit false, reasoning. And like Professor Quigley, I believe this history is significant enough that it should be known.

If there are two simple things to take from this outline it is these:

“THE CORPORATE WELFARE STATE AND SOCIALISM ARE AT THE SAME END OF THE SPECTRUM.”  &

“The goal of domination is cloaked in a critical factor: the perception that those being dominated are receiving benefits.”
